Installing an eSIM on Android varies slightly by manufacturer, but the core steps are the same across Samsung, Google Pixel, and most other Android devices.
General Requirements

- eSIM-capable device (Samsung Galaxy S20+, Pixel 3+, and many others)
- Device must be unlocked (not carrier-locked)
- Active Wi-Fi connection during setup
Samsung Galaxy (S20 and Later)
- Open Settings
- Tap Connections → SIM card manager
- Tap Add mobile plan
- Tap Scan carrier QR code
- Scan the QR code from SIMPal or your carrier
- Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm and activate
Google Pixel (Pixel 3 and Later)
- Open Settings
- Tap Network & internet → SIMs
- Tap Add SIM (the + icon)
- Tap Download a SIM instead?
- Scan your QR code when prompted
- Confirm activation and set as your mobile data line
Other Android Devices
For OnePlus, Motorola, Sony, and other Android devices, look for eSIM settings under one of these paths:
- Settings → Network → Mobile network → Add carrier
- Settings → Dual SIM & mobile network → Add eSIM
- Settings → About phone → SIM Status (to find your EID for manual activation)
Setting Your Data Line
After installation, make sure to set the new eSIM as your mobile data line to use it for internet access. Go to Settings → Network → SIM preferences → Mobile data and select your new eSIM.
Tips for Travellers
- Keep your home SIM active for calls and texts — use the eSIM for data only
- Enable "Allow mobile data switching" so calls can switch to the data SIM if needed
- Download maps and content offline before you land, just in case activation takes a few minutes
